Anti-fraud morning: 2 round tables for mixed perspectives

In order to provide concrete solutions and feedback, two round tables punctuated the anti-fraud morning, each addressing a crucial aspect of the fight against fraud.

1. Building a solid anti-fraud case to prosecute

Hosted by Marc de Beaucorps, this first round table gave the floor to Jonathane Châtillon and Éric Semirot, of the Clever Crime Suppression Brigade. Respectively a Brigadier Chief of Police and a Divisional Commander, they shared essential tips to help businesses build a solid anti-fraud case.

The experts addressed the warning signs that businesses should monitor to identify fraud attempts, such as inconsistencies in customer information And the suspicious behaviors in transactions. They also explained how businesses can strengthen their preventive approach to new threats, including by integrating security systems.

In addition, Jonathane and Éric explained the process followed once a business files a complaint : Details of the investigation steps, evidence collection, and data analysis. They also wanted to point out that investigation times vary but that effective collaboration can speed up results.

2. The challenges of fraud in the retail sector

Moderated by Yann Soilly, this second round table brought together Marjorie Rozey (Sogec) and Élodie Foucher (HP), both customers and confronted with the realities of fraud in retail.

The two speakers shared their experiences and highlighted main threats that weigh on this sector. Emphasis was placed on the importance of prevention, the vigilance in the face of new fraud techniques and the implementation of efficient detection systems.
Marjorie and Elodie detailed the most common types of fraud. At Sogec, the fake cash receipts are a major problem while at HP, 90% of fraud involves product warranty claims. They then emphasized the need to strengthen controls without compromising the user experience.

But how can controls be strengthened? One of the key points of the discussion focused on internal organization to fight fraud. Call centers, often on the front line, play a critical role in detection, but are sometimes ill-equipped to handle complex cases. The speakers explained how they manage to reconcile security and the fluidity of the customer journey. The challenge is to find a middle ground so that the user experience is not hampered by excessive controls.
