An analysis on the fight against state fraud with Bernard Cazeneuve

A first round table, moderated by Marc de Beaucorps, CEO of Finovox, highlighted Bernard Cazeneuve's thoughts on state fraud.

The former Prime Minister shared his vision by reviewing the terrorist attacks that occurred during his term. In particular, he mentioned The role of consumer loans in the financing of certain illegal activities. Mr. Cazeneuve highlighted the need to strengthen controls on these financial contracts while stressing the efforts already made in the field of Combating Money Laundering and the Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT).

At the same time, he emphasized the importance of a strengthened cooperation between public and private institutions, an essential tool for the prevention of large-scale fraud.

The participants also explored the idea of extending the measures implemented for AML/CFT to the fight against fraud, such asharmonization of legislative frameworks And the data sharing. These practices appear to be essential, as money laundering is often based on the use of false documents. Thus, fraud is often the first gateway to money laundering, underlining the importance of jointly addressing these issues.
