Anti-fraud study interview with Marc de Beaucorps, Marie Lottier and Christopher Larrondo

Document fraud is a major challenge for many industries, impacting not only corporate finances but also their reputation and the trust of their customers. Our latest study, conducted by an independent polling firm, Selvitys, offers compelling insights into current fraud trends. For the occasion, Marc de Beaucorps welcomed Marie Lottier, marketing director at Finovox, and Christopher Larrondo, sales director.

Why an anti-fraud study?

To highlight the importance of the fight against document fraud and in order to understand the need to protect itself against these attempts, Finovox took the initiative to conduct a thorough investigation.

What does it reveal? 10.8% of French people say they have defrauded via a document.

Anti-fraud study: a foretaste with some key figures

In 2024, Selvitys reveals that the The average fraud amount is 460 euros. However, this figure varies significantly between sectors.

In the insurance sector, it amounts to 570 euros while it reaches 4,200 euros in the banking sector. Marie Lottier, marketing manager at Finovox, highlights the underestimation of the declared figures. She explains this by the declarative aspect of the study: the respondents did not dare to declare the amount defrauded for fear of repercussions.

For example, 12% of respondents admit to having evaded insurance, against 5% in the bank. In reality, these rates could be much higher.

Sectors and documents affected by documentary fraud

Our study highlights the sectors most vulnerable to document fraud. We have listed them in 3 main categories:

  • Everyday fraud, with 54% with modified documents
  • Real estate fraud, with 43% with amended documents
  • Bank fraud, with 38% fake documents

Through this survey, we also wanted to highlight the most falsified documents according to each sector. We then find generally the same supports, whether for The insurance, Real estate Or the bank : the identity documents And the pay slips.

In this interview Christopher Larrondo wishes to point out that more than 55% of document scams happen online, stressing the critical importance of cybersecurity.

The consequences of fraud

A significant point mentioned in this interview is that almost 69% of people don't know the consequences documentary fraud.

In addition, 82% of respondents believe that the propensity to fraud is higher that 15 years ago.
