On October 18, 2023, Finovox launched its Fraud Hunters podcast. For the very first episode of the series “Le Canap' anti-fraud”, Marc de Beaucorps, CEO of Finovox, received Maxence Bizien, Managing Director of ALFA, Agency for Combating Insurance Fraud.
During this 35-minute exchange, Marc de Beaucorps and Maxence Bizien discuss the challenges of insurance fraud in France. In his capacity as an expert, the CEO of ALFA also draws up a portrait of the various types of fraudsters and, in response, he determines the main levers of action for companies.
How can documentary fraud be fought in the long term? What tools should be put in place to effectively combat insurance fraud in France at the dawn of 2024? Read an excerpt from this interview in this article.
Maxence Bizien: The subject of fraud has long been taboo. As early as the 2010s, the subject was raised more and more. My bias was to say that it is no longer a taboo, that we should talk about it openly. Fraud exists, it is an integral part of insurance. Fraud has existed for as long as insurance has existed.
Today, I would not say that the subject is still taboo. However, do all companies give themselves the means to really deal with the subject? Maybe not. The subject is no longer taboo, but do these companies really want to confront it?
You can see fraud if you look for it... unless the fraudster is really bad. This means that there is voluntary action on the part of businesses. But as soon as we look for it, we will also find problems... And we will have to manage these problems!
Fighting fraud is not an easy business. Obviously, we will deal with litigation, conflict, and discontent. It's always easier to say “yes” than to say “no.”
Marc de Beaucorps: It's easier to repay than to block fraud, right?
Maxence Bizien: There you go.
